  • 2014.  Oglala, SD.  USA.  A young woman pours out beer after the driver of her car was pulled over and arrested for a DUI.  She blew a 0.0 on the Blood-Alcohol reading and was let go after emptying all of the alcoholic beverages found in the car. Pine Ridge Reservation has a massive problem with alcoholism.  Although alcohol sales are banned on the reservation, the nearby border town of Whiteclay, Nebraska has four liquor stores, which sold over 4.9 million cans of beer in 2010 to mostly Oglala Lakota from Pine Ridge. Alcoholism is estimated to affect 85 percent of the families. (source: Wikipedia).
  • USA.  Queens.  2012. Night scenes from Rockaway Beach Blvd..  A number of blocks of Rockaway Beach Blvd were partially destroyed by a generator fire that started during Hurricane Sandy.  The area is still without power, with temperatures dropping.

  • USA. Standing Rock, North Dakota. December 5th, 2016. The Oceti Sakowin Camp (known popularly as Standing Rock) set up across the Missouri River, the proposed crossing point for the Dakota Access Pipeline.  It was established by activists (known as Water Protectors) intent on disrupting the passage of the pipeline in order to protect the local water supply and sacred burial grounds, as well as ensure that treaties made between the Federal government and Standing Rock Sioux are honored.

  • USA. Baltimore, Maryland. 2019. Sergeant Etwaroo of the Baltimore Police Department talks to a group of out-of-town white people in predominantly black West Baltimore to ascertain their reasons for being in the high-crime, high drug neighborhood.  While there was no probable cause for a stop, he suspected that they were there to buy drugs, as they were flustered by the questioning and gave vague and imprecise answers.
